The First World Title Match Andrew Anderson v James Wyllie, Edinburgh 1847
This classic match was the last that Anderson ever played before
retiring from competitive play. The World championship was subsequently claimed by
Wyllie, beginning the era of his domination of the game. It is given
in Gould's Memorable Matches and was the earliest match to be published in full, with the
