First Position

The most frequently occurring standard endgame win in practice, First Position is really a whole family of Positions. The same setting also often occurs with extra pieces, for example an extra red man on 21 and white man on 30 would not alter the outcome. As is so often the case in the standard endgames, the result depends on who has the move. In the present case White to play has the move, but with Red to play it would be a draw. The Red man may be on 4 instead of 3.
